The Blocao street carnival in Rio de Janeiro also includes dogs in the festivities. The popular event of masters and dogs took place last Sunday for the eleventh time. Would this dachshund have fun at the dog carnival in Rio de Jeneiro? - Image: Shutterstock / Luis Carlos Torres

Rio de Janeiro, also known as the world capital of Samba, is home to around 500 so-called "blocos". This means street festivals that enjoy great popularity around the carnival scene. One of the most famous is the Blocao street carnival: for animal reasons. Because not only the two-legged friends celebrate here, but also the four-legged ones. While an amplifier system mounted on a truck beats the unlimited danceable samba rhythms in the evening, humans and dogs alike are enjoying themselves - just like last Sunday.

Blocao street carnival as animal samba pleasure?

The dogs also captivate with lovingly arranged costumes and flashy outfits. Debates about the most beautiful disguises are far from the four-legged friends. The atmosphere is as festive as it is harmonious among the fur straps. There is rarely a growl, rather the tails wag, while the owners let themselves be infected by the animal mood and add another chapter of samba history to the street carnival of Blocao. Do the dogs really feel good in their carnival costumes? At least the human participants in the animal carnival parade are convinced of it. "I don't really like the street parties myself, but she loves it here. She has the time of her life!" Said one of the participants with a Poodle-Yorkshire crossbreed in her arms, reports the news portal "shanghaidaily.com". Let’s hope that she’s really right!
