Origin

Kurilian Bobtail emerged naturally in Russia during the 20th century. Its name comes from the region in which it arose, the Kuril Islands / Kuril Islands or Kuril Islands, which has been a territory belonging to Russia since the Second World War, but which is constantly claimed by Japan. It is believed that the breed, or at least pom-pom tailed cats, has existed for more than 200 years and was taken to the central region of Russia in the middle of the 20th century by military or scientists.

Behavior

Aspect

This breed is medium to large in size and can weigh up to 7 kilos. Its bone is substantial, its musculature well developed, being its body of the semi-cobby type, its general appearance must be of a healthy and robust feline. The head is wide, with rounded contours and a modified wedge shape. The ears are medium, wide at the base, triangular in shape with rounded tips, and a lynx type coat is allowed. The eyes are moderately large, walnut-shaped, that is, oval in shape at the top and rounded at the bottom, with the distance of one eye between them, their coloring has no relation to the color of the coat and must be shiny.

Cats of this breed may have short or semi-long coats. Cats of the Kurilian Bobtail breed require frequent brushing, regardless of the type of their coat, as it presents a constant and excessive coat change. Brushing is necessary not only to maintain a good appearance, but also to remove as much dead hair as possible.
